Going Where He Sends
The Great Commission isn't optional. At Pleasant Grove, missions isn't a program — it's a heartbeat. Local. National. Global.
Why We Go
Before Jesus ascended, He left His followers with a command — not a suggestion. "Go and make disciples of all nations." That command belongs to every generation, and it belongs to us.
At Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, missions is woven into who we are. We give to support the global work of the Southern Baptist Convention through the Cooperative Program. We send teams on mission trips. We serve our neighbors right here in Jones and Wayne County. And we invest in the next generation through programs like Vacation Bible School.
The same Gospel that changed our lives is the Gospel the world needs to hear. We're committed to taking it there — together.
"Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age."Matthew 28:19–20 · The Great Commission
How We Engage
We pursue the Great Commission on three fronts — right here at home, across our region, and around the world.
Our community is our first mission field. We serve Jones and Wayne County through practical outreach, community events, and ministry to our neighbors — because loving people near us is part of following Jesus.

Pleasant Grove sends teams to share the Gospel beyond our county lines. Whether crossing state lines or international borders, our people go — because the Great Commission has no boundaries.

As a Southern Baptist church, every dollar we give through the Cooperative Program funds thousands of missionaries, church plants, seminaries, and disaster relief efforts around the world — together, we reach further than any one church can alone.
Close to Home
The mission field starts at our front door. Here's how Pleasant Grove is actively serving Jones and Wayne County.
Each summer, Pleasant Grove opens its doors to children in our community for Vacation Bible School — a week of Bible teaching, fun, and Gospel proclamation for the next generation.
